“We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade…, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills…”. President John F. Kennedy
This past Monday (7/20/09) marked the 40th anniversary of man walking on the moon. That feat was an achievement of the highest magnitude in terms of perseverance, attitude, and determination. Many people are too young to have experienced this event. But it was almost incomprehensible to imagine a human traveling through space to the moon and then returning safely and successfully. It still is.
The moonwalk truly was a pinnacle in human achievement. It illustrates the best of American courage and confidence. The values embodied in this phenomenon are ones we should emulate – as individuals and as a nation. Through innovation, perseverance, and dedication, man walked on the moon. This was truly a lesson in Enterprise.
